The Chaley canyon is a prime destination for families, groups, or couples wanting to go canyoning from Lyon, or coming from Jura and Ain who are looking for an easy canyon. For those seeking a more challenging canyon in Bugey, we recommend the Groin canyon located just 25 minutes away.
A great half-day canyon for beginners, with jumps, slides, and siphons (optional), all customizable. Similar to the Ternèze canyon near Chambéry, everyone can participate at their own level, as there is no commitment required.
The descent takes place in always crystal-clear water, true spring water. Aquatic conditions are favorable most of the time: the canyon is often accessible even during periods of rain or drought.
The best times of the year to go canyoning in Bugey are from April to the end of October; moreover, Chaley canyon is authorized from April 1st to October 15th each year (Prefectural decree).

Must-do near Chaley Canyon
Bucolic Canyon, ideal for a family outing. A water walk spiced up with some beautiful jumps (not mandatory) and a 10m rappelling descent.
Col du Chat: near Lyon, it’s a great route totally suitable to beginners with beams, footbridges, monkey bridges, the pipe to hell, special equipments set up on the route, all above the magnificent Bourget lake, dazzling view!!!
The limestone formations in this Canyon are great and offer so much fun with the deepest pools you could find around!!
